Local Orthodoxy
We are a community of orthodox Christians. We affirm the central truths of the historic Christian faith. We believe that the scriptures inform us, revealing to us the experiences of many who have lived before us. The scriptures are useful and helpful and instruct us on our journey of faith in life and practice. We live in the tension of being a product our local culture and being reshapers of our local culture. We will continually explore and discover new ways to live out the teachings of Jesus in our local contexts.
Wholeness
We believe that God is creating a new humanity and is doing this by redeeming us and transforming us through the work of Jesus Christ. This process of transformation is deeply spiritual and impacts every area of our lives. This new life of God is a fully integrated life where our mind, body, soul and emotions find the peace of God. We embrace the salvation of Jesus as the only hope for healing our relationship with God, ourselves, each other and creation.
Community
We are a community of love where everyone is welcome because we believe that God's love extends to all people. We believe that the way of Christ can not be lived alone. We need other people who are willing to be involved in deep relationship with us. We recognize that each person is at a different stage in life's journey, therefore we will encourage each other and confront challenges with intention and grace. We believe that each person is created uniquely and wonderfully gifted by God.
Mission
We believe that we are created to live for something larger than ourselves. The mission of God is to redeem and restore all creation, bringing justice and peace to the world. Followers of Jesus Christ are the active presence of God in this world. Jesus calls his followers to be a compelling force for good in the world, and we believe that we are at our best when we serve, sacrifice, and love for the cause of another.
Celebration
We believe that life is worth celebrating. We are people who are generous, loving, hopeful, thankful, champions of peace and agents of subversive change.
Creativity
We embrace creativity and flexibility and believe that living in this way causes us to be effective and energetic. We believe that God is always creating and recreating and invites us to participate with Him.
